If only we had a crystal ball!
What will the next 12 months bring? I am both curious and impatient, so this question stirs up considerable intrigue.
This was a question a friend asked on social media today, with the added question of “would you be prepared to share that prediction publicly for judging at the end of the year?” (I’m paraphrasing).
Predicting trends is one thing and this relied on you having a good feel for the stuff you have less control and little influence of. It relies more on you being confident that you understand the emerging trends in your sector. I’m not sure I have the confidence to know what the world might look like in just 12 months, I am probably more confident about a 5-year timeframe. Innovation is rarely that quick to create and adopt, with true disruption being the outlier, but how do you predict that accurately anyway?
With hindsight, if you had asked me just 12 months ago what I predicted to occur in 2019, I would have got it perhaps 50% accurate. Very few of my activities in 2019 were planned this time last year. However, I think it could be fun to post, on New Year’s Eve, a list of my predictions for the coming year.
Do you fancy joining me in compiling your own list? We now have 2 weeks to have a ponder and perhaps even look for evidence of change that might materialise in 2020.
My list so far includes:
- launching my book
- staying blonde
- routinely going to bed earlier
I evidently need time to get ambitious and consider what will be happening in the world around us! What do you predict?
